Is it Possible to know Jesus Christ Who Died on a Cross Almost 2000 Years Ago?
Jesus is the Life Changing Choice For This Life and the Next Life

You MUST Have a Personal Relationship with GOD the FATHER Through JESUS CHRIST to be Able to Enter Heaven . . . NOTHING Else Will Get You There!
Jesus is the Life Changing Choice
For this Life and the Next Life
Christianity teaches that by faith in Jesus Christ a person can have a new start in life.
Jesus called this being ‘born again’. Jesus said . . .
“Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” John 3:3
Jesus gives the choice of a new beginning. This applies to anyone no matter what they have done in their life.
- Going to Church does not make a person a Christian.
- Living what a person believes is a good moral life does not make them a Christian.
- Being brought up in a Christian family does not make a person a Christian.
- Believing Jesus existed does not make a person a Christian.
Becoming a Christian is all about having a personal relationship with Jesus and becoming a follower of his.
How is this possible? How can we have a relationship with Jesus Christ who was born around 2000 years ago in Israel and put to death by crucifixion around the age of 33?
It is possible because at the core of Christian faith is the belief that Jesus rose from the dead. Christians call this the resurrection. After his resurrection hundreds of people saw Jesus. He eventually returned to heaven. Jesus was God coming to earth in human form to give his life on behalf of humanity. Why did Jesus need to do this?
Jesus taught that sin separates a person from God. The penalty for sin is death and eternal separation from God. Jesus came and lived a life without sin. This made Jesus qualified to give his life as an innocent offering for the sins of all humanity. Jesus, took the punishment humanity deserved. God’s desire is to save people from the consequences of sin.
The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the means by which a person can have a relationship with God. This shows how much God loves us.
How To Start Your Relationship with Jesus
Faith
I mentioned Christian Faith above. There is a small step of faith to be taken when you begin seeking Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. The book of Hebrews in the New Testament of the Bible (the Bible has an Old Testament and a New Testament. In basic terms, the Old Testament was the old way of walking with God and the New Testament is the new way of living for God) says this,
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6
So it follows that if you want to get to know God you need to believe that God is there and is ready and willing to get to know you. I realise this can be difficult if you have in the past claimed not to believe in God. Remember that God’s looks at your heart. You can have this initial belief in your heart without anyone else knowing. It’s a private thing between you and God. It’s your act of faith, between you and God, no one else. I remember the night I became a Christian and I was asked to believe God existed. I actually said to God from deep within myself, “God, I don’t know if you are really there and I feel stupid trying to talk to you.” Fortunately, I figured I had nothing to lose.
Admitting You Have Done Wrong Things
Breaking the laws of God is called sin. It is sin that separates people from God. Jesus went to the cross because of the need to save each individual from the consequences of sin. The punishment that we deserved from God for sin was taken by Jesus. It can be difficult to admit you have sinned. You are not alone with that difficulty. The good thing is that everyone has sinned in some way so you are not alone in that either. The Bible teaches us that,
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23
When we admit to God that we have sinned and ask Him to forgive us it’s called repentance.
Repentance is important to becoming a Christian. To repent means we want to stop walking away from God and to walk towards him. Repentance means admitting to God that we have done wrong things. That we have been walking in the wrong direction. We have done, thought, and said things that need forgiveness for. Repentance means we confess our sins to God and ask for his forgiveness. A forgiveness based on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus paying the price for all our sins.
After asking forgiveness we then promise to live life with a new direction and with Jesus.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17
We ask for God’s help to get to know Jesus better and to follow Jesus and his teachings.
We should also ask God to give us support and guidance by the Holy Spirit so we can live this way.
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. Romans 8:14
Asking for forgiveness is through prayer. Prayer means we talk to God. As touched on above, this means we have to believe God is there. And if He is there then He is listening to our prayer. This can be difficult at first. The good thing about prayer is that it does not have to be public.
You can go to a private space and pray to God out loud or in silence. God looks at your heart so you don’t need lots of fancy words or a long prayer. Sincerity is what God loves. Here’s an example of the type of prayer you could pray.
Dear God.
Thank you for being there.
I realise I have done lots of wrong things.
I believe Jesus died for all the wrong things I have done.
I admit my wrong things and ask for your forgiveness though Jesus.
I want to follow Jesus.
I ask you to give me the Holy Spirit to help me live that way.
Thank you. Amen

(If you have prayed the prayer above and have become a Christian why not tell one of your Christian friends what you have done?! Or write to me paul @ seekingjesus.com as I would love to hear your news!!)
When a person prays to God in faith asking for His forgiveness they will receive it. Forgiveness is a wonderful free gift from God. If you have done this you are now part of God’s family, the church.
When I became a Christian it was very overwhelming experience. Full of the experience of God and his love in my heart. But it is not always like that for believers. For some it is a quiet and reflective time. It does not matter how you feel or what you experience in that moment. The important thing is to start living for God.
Confess Jesus to Others
It is good to be able to tell others about Jesus.
Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” 2 Timothy 2:19
The important thing is that Jesus is now in you and with you. The Holy Spirit is with you. They will support you. Ask them to in prayer.
Reading the Bible is a good support too. There are many great resources to help you understand the Bible (Bible Gateway).
Find a church where Jesus is honoured, worshipped and loved. Your life will change more and more as you pray, read the Bible, and have fellowship with other Christians.
It would be good too to chat with a Pastor or Church Leader about being Baptised.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:16-18 NIV”
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 NIV
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
